American University Research Academy

AURA is a high school designed for social and academic high achievement; By using the International Baccalaureate curricula, AURA prepares students for success through a program that meets and exceeds the UC/CSU entrance requirements. Built on the notion that all children can learn and succeed in schooling, AURA expects that its learning community members will be academically equipped and able to compete for placement in the nation’s high performing public and private elite colleges.
The goal of AURA is to provide meaningful pathways to college and career experiences, particularly careers focused on healthcare. In providing learning and preparation opportunities for students, AURA is also concerned about providing meaningful life and growth experiences and enabling high-level academic outcomes that lead to graduation and qualified candidacy for college and careers in health sciences professions.
Our philosophy is built on the recognition that process and products are interconnected and interdependent. In this respect, we intend to supply quality interactions that lead to quality outcomes, align to state standards, and seek to meet and exceed the entrance requirements of the UC/CSU A-G for college admissions.
Built on a constructivist-developmental foundation, we not only see the importance of the relationship between the experienced and the novice learner, but we also consider these dynamics from a variety of lenses, for instance, as an interplay between rights and individual responsibility.

AURA is a high-standards rigorous program that offers specific and multiple pathways to health sciences careers through “STEAM” (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) and language education. Built on a vision of exemplary learning and achievement for all learners, the AURA High School goes above and beyond expectations for learners, while envisioning limitless possibilities for all students.
