This year’s holiday season was in danger of being canceled as many families struggled to cope with the pandemic fallout and restrictions. Many families faced food insecurity, inability to pay rent, utilities, or phone bills and wondered if they would be able to put a new toy under the Christmas tree for their children.
November 22, 2020 was a day filled with jubilance and thanks. The AUHS Foundation and its team of volunteers gathered together at Second Samoan Congregational Church in Long Beach to give out free Thanksgiving meals, hygiene kits or sleeping bags, to the homeless population near downtown Long Beach.
The month of November is a time of gratitude, reflection, and humility. While there are many Americans who are making plans to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday with their loved ones over a hearty and warm meal, there are those who unfortunately do not have the necessary essentials to prepare a homecooked Thanksgiving meal for themselves
