General Granger probably would be surprised that the anniversary of his declaration to the people of Texas would become a national holiday. For him, enforcing the end of slavery was probably just one more administrative task, but for the formerly enslaved people it was a dream come true. Juneteenth is about celebrating freedom and equal treatment under the law. Give thanks for your freedom and treat everyone as your neighbor. General Granger would approve.
AURA would like to recognize our student Tiffany Dang. Tiffany received the Outstanding Academic Excellence Award from AURA as she received straight A’s in each of her classes. Congratulations Tiffany, we’re proud of you!
Happy Father’s Day! “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you." Exodus 20:12 When we honor our fathers, we also honor our Heavenly Father. Whether you go by dad, abba, papa, or tata, we honor you on this day.
Who doesn’t like field trips? This past Friday, AURA students explored The Broad Museum! The Broad Museum houses various styles of art, one could say the museum’s structure is an art-piece itself! In addition to the museum, students visited Little Tokyo and got dessert at Fugetsu-Do – a Japanese mochi confectionery that has been in Los Angeles since 1903!
